A 10th pass student can aim for a government post, learn a trade and work as a skilled technician, or take a private job and learn on the job. First, a word on age. Most employers, government or private, need you to be 18. If you are 15 or 16 now, the smartest move is to use the next two years to add a skill or finish class 12, and apply the day you become eligible.

Government options for a 10th pass job

Post office jobs for 10th pass students are popular because postings are in villages and small towns, often close to home. You must know cycling and basic computer use, and you need Maths and English in class 10.

Skilled trade jobs after ITI

This is the most underrated route. India needs skilled electricians, fitters, welders and mechanics, and good ones are always in demand. A government ITI course costs very little and runs 1 or 2 years. After it, you can join a factory, a workshop, a contractor, or apply for railway and PSU apprentice seats. With 5 to 8 years of experience, a skilled technician can earn about ₹25,000 to ₹45,000 a month, and more as a supervisor or self employed contractor. Pay depends on the city, the industry and how good your work is.

10th pass job in a private company

A 10th pass job in a private company is the quickest way to earn. These jobs hire at 18 and above, usually after a simple interview.

Merchant navy 10th pass job

The merchant navy carries goods across the world on cargo ships. A 10th pass student can enter at the rating level (deck or engine crew) by completing a pre-sea training course approved by the Directorate General of Shipping. Marks, age and medical rules are set for each course, so check the DG Shipping website and verify that the institute is approved before paying any fee. Job after 10th pass for girl students

Girls can apply for all the government posts above. Some extra options that many girls and their families prefer:

• Government: India Post GDS, SSC MTS, SSC GD (posts for women in each force), Anganwadi worker, and railway jobs after 10th for female candidates through RRB Group D.
• Skills: ITI trades such as sewing technology, cosmetology, computer operator and electronics mechanic. Many states run ITIs for women only.
• Private: retail, beauty and wellness, tailoring units, front desk and data entry.

Is there any job for a 10th pass student under 18?

By law, children under 14 cannot be employed, and teenagers aged 14 to 18 cannot work in hazardous jobs like factories with machines, mines or chemicals. So for jobs for 10th class students who are still 15 or 16, the honest answer is: use this time to learn. Join class 11, an ITI or a short skill course.
