10th Pass Govt Job List: Eligibility, Age and Salary

A 10th pass govt job is possible, and every year lakhs of young people join central and state services with only a class 10 certificate. The best known routes are SSC MTS, SSC GD Constable, Railway Group D, India Post Gramin Dak Sevak and Agniveer in the Army. 10th pass government job list (central government)

These are the main central posts open after class 10. Pay levels are from the 7th CPC pay matrix. Every 10th government job in this table is recruited through an official commission, board or force.

Age relaxation applies for SC, ST, OBC, ex-servicemen and PwD candidates in civil posts. Check your exact age on the cut-off date with the age checker.

10th pass job in railway

Railway Group D is the biggest railway route for a 10th pass student. Posts in Level 1 include track maintainer, pointsman, helper or assistant in different departments, and hospital assistant. The work is physical. Track maintainers walk the line and keep it safe. Pointsmen help with train movement at stations. Helpers assist technicians in workshops and sheds.

Selection has a computer based test, a physical efficiency test, document verification and a medical exam. The test covers maths, general intelligence and reasoning, general science and current affairs at around class 10 level. Students who prepare seriously usually need 6 to 9 months.

10th pass job in police and the forces

If you are fit and want a uniform, this is the strongest group of options.

• SSC GD Constable: the single biggest 10th pass government job in the forces. You join a force such as BSF, CRPF or CISF. Selection: computer based exam, physical efficiency test, physical standard test, medical and documents. Postings can be on borders, in airports, in industrial units or in disturbed areas.
• State police constable: some states accept class 10, others ask for class 12. Each state board sets its own pay scale and physical standards. See police constable.
• Agniveer in the Army: General Duty and Tradesman posts need class 10. Selection has an online common entrance exam, then a recruitment rally with a 1.6 km run, pull-ups, a 9 feet ditch and a zig-zag balance, then a medical. Service is 4 years under the Agnipath scheme.
• Air Force non-combatant: Agniveervayu in hospitality or housekeeping streams needs only class 10. There is a short written test, a fitness test, a stream suitability test and a medical.

Govt jobs without an exam for 10th pass

A 10th pass govt job without exam is rare, but a few posts select on marks instead of a written test.

• Gramin Dak Sevak: India Post makes a computer generated merit list from your class 10 marks. You must know how to ride a bicycle and use a computer. A Branch Postmaster must live in the post village.
• Apprentice seats: railway and PSU apprentices after ITI are often picked on merit. This is training with a stipend, not a permanent job, but it improves your chances later.
• Anganwadi and some village level posts: many states fill these on merit or interview. Rules differ by state. See Anganwadi worker.

State government jobs: Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Odisha and more

Every state hires 10th pass candidates through its public service commission, staff selection board, police recruitment board, forest department and district offices. Common posts are office attendant or peon, forest guard, village assistant, junior assistant in some states, jail warder and constable.

For example, government jobs in Tamil Nadu for 10th qualification are filled mainly through the state public service commission and the police recruitment board. 10th pass govt jobs in Karnataka, Telangana, Odisha, Bihar, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and West Bengal work the same way through their own boards. 10th pass govt jobs for female and male candidates

Almost every post above is open to both. A few points for each:

• For female candidates: SSC GD has posts for women in each force. Women pay no application fee in SSC and in the GDS notification. India Post GDS, Anganwadi worker and SSC MTS are popular because postings can be near home. Physical standards for women are lower than for men. See govt jobs for women.
• 10th pass govt job for male candidates: Agniveer General Duty, Agniveer Tradesman, SSC GD and Railway Group D take the largest numbers. Physical fitness is often the deciding factor, so start running early.

Salary in a 10th pass govt job

Your monthly salary in a central post is basic pay plus allowances. Level 1 starts at ₹18,000 basic and Level 3 at ₹21,700. On top of basic you get:

• Dearness allowance: set as a percentage of your basic and raised twice a year to match prices.
• House rent allowance: the rate rises with the size of your posting city (class Z, Y or X). If you stay in government quarters, as most force personnel do, this is not paid.
• Travel allowance: a set sum each month for commuting, higher in big cities, with DA added on it.
• Pension contribution: under NPS, one tenth of your basic plus DA is cut each month, and the government puts in a bigger share of its own.

10th ke baad government job list: a plan by age

Many students finish class 10 at 15 or 16, which is below the minimum age of most posts. Use those years well, because the right after 10th government job depends on your age.

1. Age 15 to 17: join class 11 or a government ITI. Government ITI courses after 10th, like electrician, fitter or computer operator, are low cost and add a skill that railways and PSUs value. See ITI courses.

3. Age 18 onward: apply for SSC MTS, SSC GD, Railway Group D, India Post GDS and state posts.

Is there any government job for 10th fail candidates?

Options are very limited. The Army has an Agniveer Tradesman category for 8th pass candidates for some trades, and some state and local bodies hire for helper or sweeper posts with lower qualifications.
